Permanent VIP Benefits (2024)

Hello friends,

I am considering to purchase 1 month of VIP for the first time. I intend to go VIP when I can, but right now I can't do it on a consistent basis. So, I made a list of permanent VIP benefits and wanted to ask if I missed anything. I am not trying to min/max or be a greedy goblin here, just don't want to miss something, that's why I'm asking Permanent VIP Benefits (2)

- Player status changes to Premium
- 500 LOTRO points (once)
- 30 Inventory slots (all characters that log in during VIP)
- Swift Travel across all travel NPCs (all characters that log in during VIP)
- 20 Shared Wardrobe slots (can continue using items inside but can't add new items)
- Crafting Guild max earned tier is kept
- VIP character frame

Anything else I missed?

Thanks!

Two things I can think of:

The rest are all pretty situational:

  • Wardrobe - you can use what's in there but you will need more slots to add any
  • Crafting Guild - maximum earned tier remains
  • Rested experience earned doesn't get removed

Thank you. I'm asking in order to make my list complete: Does VIP frame stay after subscription ends?

Yes it does. But there are much nicer frames in game though they are a bit more work like the flower frame from North Ithilien.

Thank you Gildoriel. Frames are not something I care for specifically, just wanted to make a comprehensive list of permanent VIP benefits.

By the way, my frame shows a white tree (Nimloth?), can it show my charatcer face? Also for other players and NPCs.

Hm, did you check in the options? There should be a checkbox next to an entry like "3D character portraits" or something similar. Enabling it should show your face next to your vitals. (Writing this from memory, so I hope it is correct)

3D Object Portraits in Advanced Graphics like Gildoriel mentioned. However, the portrait is disabled in Ettenmoors.

The ability to use Destiny Points, the daily VIP "blue bar" experience bonus, and the ability to do the VIP quests which grant the craft-accelerating/item-wear-invulnerability and town services perks are not permanent benefits. They are really nice benefits of an active VIP subscription, but those are not among the benefits which permanently unlock with a single month of VIP. Which is what the OP specifically stated he is attempting to list.

One thing that doesn't matter much anymore with the introduction of the "A Little Extra..." quests for obtaining the basic riding skill and a free starter mount; is access to the quest "Proving Your Quality" at Hengstacer Farm which becomes available at Level 20 and rewards the basic riding skill:
https://lotro-wiki.com/wiki/Quest:proving_Your_Quality

Although this quest can only be acquired while the account status is VIP, the effects – that is, the basic riding skill reward – are permanent once the quest is completed.

Although the wiki describes some things in ways that are a bit confusing (for example, VIP has 75 inventory bag slots rather than +30) it covers the differences in account types quite thoroughly:

You are right. I didn't remember that the OP asked for permanent perks when I answered.

I've seen people have already commented on the destiny point perks not being permanent by the time I came back to log in and post.

The xp enhancement you bought with DP's does stay once you are un-subbed. This is a real boon for long term players, as pvp used to accumulate DP's I've got into the habit of enhancing loads of xp in any month I subscribe on multiple toons. Am down to about 145,000 remaining now.

I tend to tortoise a lot, but when I decide to level them, the characters have pretty much double xp all the way to my next tortoise ceiling. So in this regard its sort of a perk that does remain, even if you can't increase i further once you are premium until you re-sub.

That said if we are talking about a new player subbing once, they will not have accumulated enough DP's to make this very significant.

I think there is a little confusion to your question. There are 3 types of accounts.
Free to play - no real money was spent.
VIP - you are paying a monthly subscription
Premium - your toons were logged on while you were VIP but you are no longer paying monthly.
Is the last one, Premium, the one you are asking about or ?

Any time an account is VIP, even for just one month; or spends any real money on any other purchase, that account can never drop below Premium status. Some accounts are Premium without ever having been VIP due to some other purchase.

However, in addition to that, there is the complication of per-character permanent unlocks which require that specific character to have been logged into the game while the account is at VIP status.

The OP appears to be making a list of all Premium account status benefits plus all benefits which remain on both an account-wide and per-character basis subsequent to the expiration of VIP status.
