My Homemade Ranch Seasoning recipe yields a classic ranch flavor while being both Keto and Whole30 friendly. This seasoning mix only has a handful of ingredients with none of the stuff we don’t want.It goes well in so many dishes like my cast iron beef sirloin steak, Ninja Foodi Pot Roast, and air fryer jalapeño poppers. You can even use it to make ranch dressing.

Ingredients Needed

This recipe requires a few common spices that you probably have in your pantry.

  • Dried Chives
  • Dried Dill
  • Dried Parsley
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Sea Salt and Pepper
  • Buttermilk Powder: you should omit this for Whole30 and it is overall completely optional. It adds a creamy taste to the spice mix and I personally prefer it when I want a closer copycat to the buttermilk ranch seasoning mixtures that you can find in most grocers.

How to Make Ranch Seasoning Mix

You can make ranch seasoning by gathering the spices and a small spice jar.

Since making my chicken dry rub, I’ve been using these airtight glass jars.

I simply add all of the spices to the jar, close the lid and shake.

Top Recipe FAQs and Tips

Ranch Seasoning Without Buttermilk

Some ranch seasoning mixes include buttermilk powder. That’s why I’ve included how I use it below.

However, buttermilk powder is not Whole30 compliant. It might also be more carbs than some folks would like on keto.

So, you should omit the buttermilk if you need to have a Whole30 compliant and dairy-free version.

I first shared this recipe without buttermilk powder so please know that you won’t be missing out.

I personally add the buttermilk powder when I’m hoping for a closer copycat to the buttermilk ranch seasoning packets that you can pick up in the store.

How much ranch seasoning is in a packet

If you are following a recipe that calls for “one packet of Ranch seasoning” or “1 ounce of ranch seasoning” you’ll need to know how much ranch seasoning mix to use.

Though one packet may vary between brands, the conversion is 1 ounce = 2 tablespoons. So, if you are following a recipe that calls for 2 ounces of ranch seasoning, you would use 4 tablespoons of my ranch seasoning mix.

Making Homemade Ranch Dressing

You can use this seasoning mix to make ranch dressing.

Besides this spice mix, you simply combine sour cream, mayo, and lemon juice in a small bowl.

I pair it with my BLT Avocado Salad. I also use it as a dip for my dry rub chicken wings or keto buffalo wings.

How to make a Ranch Dip Instead

Going to a get-together and need something tasty and keto-friendly to bring? You can use the homemade ranch seasoning mix to create a ranch dip.

To make a dip, all you need is:

  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon of homemade ranch dressing mix

Add both ingredients into a small bowl and mix until well combined. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Store it in an airtight container to bring to your get together or serve it to the kids as a snack.

Recipes that Use Homemade Ranch Seasoning

Looking for more ideas of what to use ranch seasoning with. Here are two more of my favorite recipes that use ranch seasoning:

  • Ninja Foodi Pot Roast
  • Beef Top Sirloin
  • BLT Avocado Salad
  • Keto Buffalo Chicken Pizza
